Monster Canada’s Louis Gagnon named Montreal Marketing Personality of the Year

Gagnon also wins Integrated Marketing Strategy award
for “remarkable” Rate Your Boss viral marketing campaign

MONTREAL – April 26, 2006 – Monster Canada VP of Marketing Louis Gagnon has been named Marketing Personality of the Year for 2006 by the Montreal Marketing Association.

Gagnon was presented with the association’s prestigious Marketing Personality of the Year award during its 15th annual awards gala at Montreal’s Mont-Royal Centre on April 25, 2006.

Gagnon was also named winner of the association’s Integrated Marketing Strategy award for small and medium-sized enterprises for leading Monster’s hugely successful Rate Your Boss 2005 viral marketing campaign, which the association praised as “one of the most remarkable integrated marketing campaigns” it has ever seen.

“This is a huge honor for Monster and we are so proud of Louis for the exceptional insight and leadership he has shown in developing and executing what was a remarkable campaign for us,” said Monster Canada General Manager Gabriel Bouchard. “With Rate your Boss, Louis demonstrated with his usual passion just how effectively an Internet-based campaign can take centre stage in a national, integrated marketing initiative. He hit a home run by connecting with more than 100,000 Canadians right across the country.”

The Rate Your Boss campaign results were released in October, 2005 and generated media coverage across Canada for Monster as participation topped the 100,000 mark. The campaign was created by digital advertising agency Provokat of Montreal.

“It is such an honor to earn recognition by my peers as winner in the Integrated Marketing category,” said Gagnon. “And I can’t even begin to describe the thrill of being named Marketing Personality of the Year. Many thanks to the Marketing Association of Montreal for recognizing what was in fact a team effort by an awesome group of talented people at Monster Canada. We set out to show how you can create sense and clarity from the overload of metrics and information that the Internet is giving marketers today, and we think that Rate Your Boss really cut through to make a connection with employees and employers right across the country.”

Gagnon praised the Rate Your Boss campaign’s creator, digital agency Provokat, “for coming up with an exceptionally creative viral campaign that really gained the attention of Canadian employees and employers everywhere.” Gagnon also thanked Monster’s public relations agency of record, Porter Novelli Canada, and advertising agency BOS for their work in successfully promoting the campaign both to the media and the public.

The Montreal Marketing Association has more than 500 members and is a chapter of the American Marketing Association, one of the largest professional associations for marketers, with 38,000 members worldwide working in every area of marketing.
