Monster makes it to the medal podium in Privacy Policy Ranking

Nymity Inc., Canada’s leading privacy educator, has released a report ranking the top Canadian companies with the best privacy policies.
Nymity identified five key business sectors and ranked the top four or five performers in each category for best privacy practices. Monster.ca came in the top three of companies nation-wide in the Consumer Services category, beating out giants Ticketmaster Canada and AlarmForce.
Nymity scored private policies according to ten criterion including accountability, consent practice, accuracy, safeguards, and individual access. Monster also took top prize --a perfect score-- in the accuracy category.
The top performers were identified using Nymity’s new National Privacy Policy Index, a tool that assists Privacy Officers in assessing and managing their companies’ privacy policies.
Terry McQuay, President of Nymity Inc, explains that a lot of Canadian companies’ private policies are simply goodwill statement about legal compliance, but effective privacy management needs to go much further than that.
"It requires thorough policy development, clear and complete disclosure of that policy, continuous training of employees and annual auditing of operations to ensure compliance," he says. "Without effective privacy practices, Canadian companies could breach privacy, frustrate or alienate customers, and risk a Privacy Commissioner finding that would require costly changes to business practices."
Nymity warns that understanding and managing privacy issues needs to remain an ongoing concern in companies.
Monster is very proud of this ranking, because it demonstrates how we take our users’ privacy very seriously. Both job-seekers and recruiters who put their trust in us every day may be assured that Monster is steadfast in its commitment to protecting their privacy.
